DELETE ME
A commentary on surveillance and privacy.

Our image is in demand. We all are the intended target of surveillance from private, public and governmental spheres. We are all suspect and 'passive' participants by default. In our social circles we are also 'passive' participants, and our image is up for grabs by default. In both cases our consent is granted by default.

With this project I will make the transition from a 'passive' participant to an 'active' participant and let everyone, that demands my image, know that consent is NOT granted by default.

This project is the creation of a tie that displays the words DELETE ME, each letter will be created out of infrared light, infrared light cannot be seen by the bare eye, but it is seen by digital cameras. Thus, anytime my image is recorded in public or in a social even, the DELETE ME message is recorded as well.

By making this statement I become an 'active' participant and let everyone, that demands my image, know that consent is NOT granted by default.
